Our Vision

The people of Ladera Community Church defined, as best we could, the core of who we are today.

We are a Christian community:
  • That embraces Jesus’ central teaching of love of God and neighbor
  • That loves and respects each other despite, and because of, the many differences among us in specific beliefs and practices
  • Where people find a loving, supportive, intergenerational community to share joy and sorrow
  • Where individuals and families come together to make a difference in the local and global community and learn to live lightly on the earth
  • Where inspiring and challenging preaching and liturgy strengthen our spirits
  • Where music-filled worship refreshes heart and soul
  • Where we invite and welcome all with open arms

Nothing, no one, stays alive and vibrant without growth.  To build upon the best of who we are, we have targeted the following three areas as priorities for our growth over the next three to five years:

Our priorities are:

To free ourselves, like Mary, to experience more of the “good portion.”  This means spending:

  • more time on personal/family spiritual exploration, growth, and renewal
  • more time serving in the greater community
  • less time running the church

To strengthen our ministry by developing a strong youth (6th-12th grade) program
To increase our visibility, and the ways in which we are known, within the local community

Our vision for Ladera is a more vibrant and visible Christian community. A church where intergenerational relationships are broadened and deepened.  A place that sends all who enter its sanctuary back into the world renewed, connected, and closer to God.  Our hope is for a bigger, stronger, small church where more Peninsula residents come and stay to know and be known, to develop in spirit, and to make a difference throughout life’s journey.
