Mission/Service

Vision – Mission/Service encompasses the actions we, individually and as a community, take in the world, motivated by our understanding of what God calls us to do and to be.

Serving

as public witness

In keeping with the teachings of Jesus, Ladera Community Church/UCC takes a position of justice for all. This includes people of any race, class, sexual orientation and religion. We believe in speaking out and taking progressive stands on justice issues. At the same time, we believe in and welcome dialog with all who enter our doors.

in giving and service

Ladera Community Church has a long tradition of active Christian service. We support service and relief organizations outside the local church concerning emergency and ongoing needs both in the U.S. and worldwide.

The following receive yearly financial offerings from the congregation: One Great Hour of Sharing, Church World Service, Neighbors in Need, United Campus Christian Ministry on Stanford University Campus, and UCC Christmas Fund for Retired Ministers.

We also are active in service projects for InnVision/Shelter Network, a local organization that helps individuals and families break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Throughout the year we organize various benefits for InnVision/Shelter Network, such as serving a monthly community meal, having drives for food, clothing and personal care products, providing Christmas gifts for families, and collecting financial aid for their general operating budget. All are welcome to join us in these Mission projects.

Contact us at church@ladera.org to learn more about any of these service opportunities.
