Outreach
Serving

as public witness
In keeping with the teachings of Jesus, Ladera Community Church/UCC from time to time takes public positions that may raise questions in the minds of those who see or hear them. We are always available to hear from those who agree or disagree with the position expressed, or who wish further information. You may address your comments to church@ladera.org.
in giving and service
Ladera Community Church has a long tradition of active Christian service. Each year the church’s budget includes a certain amount for the United Church of Christ’s various service and relief activities. In addition, our members, friends and visitors are consistently generous with their financial support of our benefactors. These funds are distributed to the following organizations:
InnVision, an organization that helps individuals and families break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Our church is focusing its outreach on local families at risk. Weekly, a group participates in an after-school tutoring program at the Opportunity Center in Palo Alto for children who live at this residence for previously homeless people. Another group weekly packs groceries for local low-income families at the Veterans Administration in Menlo Park. Once every five weeks, six to eight people serve a meal for the homeless at Trinity
Church in Menlo Park. The church also contributes food, clothing and financial aid twice a year to InnVision.
One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS), special mission offerings support ecumenical global relief.
Neighbors in Need, special mission offerings support ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States.
United Campus Christian Ministry (UCCM) at Stanford, a progressive Christian network welcoming all students; dedicated to exploring spirituality and social justice. Members serve on the board.
Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Chaplaincy Service, a program committed to caring for special spiritual needs of children and families.
Members also make generous donations to national and international charities and disaster relief, as opportunities arise. An endowment fund was established in 1996 to generate income to enhance the mission and outreach of our church.
